"Five little monsters went to school"と言うと、小３のAちゃんの口から自然に

「listened to the story and followed the rule」

「おーCD聞いてるねー」

そこに、すかさずBくんが

「ちがうで、listened to the storyはfiveじゃなくてfourやで」

確かに、本の内容はこうです。

One little monster went to school, raised their hands and followed the rule.

Two little monsters went to school, shared their crayons and followed the rule.

Three little monsters went to school, waited their turns and followed the rule.

Four little monsters went to school, listened to the story and followed the rule.

Five little monsters went to school. Five little monsters followed the rule.

親が「英語、言ってみて」と試そうとすると答えないけど、ふとした瞬間の発言で驚かせてくれる子ども達。
